John Deere has expanded its front loader range with the introduction of the new 665R and 685R, developed specifically for the latest Large and Xtra-Large frame 6R tractors. Designed with professional agricultural and material-handling work in mind, the new loaders place a strong emphasis on operator visibility, productivity and easier day-to-day maintenance.

Visibility has been one of the main priorities during development. Operators can specify a multi-position digital camera, which can be mounted on either the loader boom or torque tube and connected directly to the loader’s electrical harness. The camera can be repositioned without tools, helping to provide a clearer view when working with bulk materials, bales or attachments in confined areas. John Deere has also made the process of mounting and removing the loader more straightforward. New cut-outs at the latch points allow the operator to confirm from the cab that the loader has been attached correctly, helping to reduce uncertainty and save time. 

A factory-set, two-position bucket level indicator also assists operators in maintaining the correct attachment angle when moving between buckets, bale spikes and pallet forks.

orward visibility has been further improved through low-profile hydraulic hose routing and a redesigned underslung mechanical self-levelling system. Both changes reduce visual obstruction around the loader, giving the operator a clearer view of the working area during repetitive or precision tasks.

The new loaders are also designed to move more material during each loading cycle. Revised geometry provides an additional eight degrees of rollback angle, improving load retention and reducing spillage while travelling. This is achieved through changes to the angle plate position, bucket latching geometry and side-plate design, allowing the bucket to carry a larger volume of material.

These improvements should prove particularly useful during repetitive jobs such as loading silage, manure or other bulk materials. Customers can also specify John Deere’s Technology Package, which includes Dynamic Weighing, Level to Horizon and Return to Position functions. Together, these systems are intended to simplify operation and improve consistency throughout the working day. Maintenance has also received attention. A central greasing system brings lubrication points together in a more accessible location, making routine servicing quicker, particularly on larger loader installations. This should help operators reduce downtime and maintain the machine more consistently during intensive periods of use.

Separate hydraulic and electrical connections have been introduced to improve connection stability and support future upgrades. Every loader is equipped with a new electrical architecture, controller and main wiring harness as standard. This allows functions including loader suspension, lighting, cameras and the Technology Package to be added later, should an owner’s requirements change.

The new John Deere 665R and 685R loaders will be available for Model Year 2027 Large and Xtra-Large frame 6R tractors. Pricing is expected to be announced in July 2026, with the first deliveries scheduled to begin in April 2027.
